The current release of Professional Extensions is now available. This article contains the latest version for DVD-lab PRO 1.x, see here for the DVD-lab PRO v2 version.
What’s changed:
- Added the ability to display “Safe Zones” in “DVD Player” mode.
- The DVD Player’s status display now indicates the current Menu number and active Button number – the Menu number corresponds to the DVD Lab Menu number (shown in black at the top of the menu icon in the Connections window).
- Current stream information is now shown on the “DVD” tab whilst a Title is playing.
- Fixed the click behaviour of the DVD Menus’ button on the DVD Player main toolbar. A left-click will summon the current VTS’ Root Menu whilst a right-click provides a pop-up menu from which you can select which “Entry” menu you wish to summon. Attempting to summon a non-existent menu results in a no-op (nothing happens).
- The DirectShow DVD Navigator can fail to paint the highlight for the current button when a DVD Menu is entered. Implemented a workaround whereby that button is force-selected which paints the button correctly.
- Modified the display behaviour of the Chapter Delete button to make it more “logical”.
- Fixed a bug whereby it was possible to delete the first Chapter Point which is always automatically added and must be present.
- Added additional error and warning reporting functionality to the DVD Player including the infamous “illegal navigation command” error. All errors and warnings are logged and, optionally, displayed.
- Removed the demultiplexer’s 4 GB file size limitation. You can now demultiplex Program Stream files of any length. (In point of fact the limit has been raised to just over 4.19 million Gigabytes but we doubt you’ll even come close!)
- Cleared a problem whereby the Go to Start Frame and Go to End Frame buttons weren’t enabled properly in accordance with the current context.
- The Logs now include a header that details of the processor-specific code optimisations used by the program.
- The Search Black Frame function has been further refined and should be about 10% faster.
- The Search Black Frame button now has a context pop-up menu accessed by right-clicking on the button.
- The Parameters Grid on the Project Tab now indicates whether GOPs are Open or Closed.
- Updated to the latest (stable) version of the FastMM Memory Manager (4.27).
- Minor documentation revisions.

Thank you too, Mark, for ProEx which adds an inpayable feature to DVD-Lab Pro!
The possibility for exact positioning of chapters and sub titles with audio preview allows comfortable detailed projects for eg. multi language and/or product presentation DVDs.
Thank you very much for this DVD-Lab edition!

Sad, that I don`t get the ProEx running on wine
Mark’s comment: ProEx requires the use of DirectX technology which Wine does not support.

My DVD Lab Version 2.0 is installed in a different folder? I see that this will only install to the DVD Lab Pro folder where my old version is situated. How do I install it in the new one?
Mark’s comment: DVD-lab PRO Version 2 requires ProEx version 3. This will be available in a day or two.

Before I download this ProEx addon-thing and add it to my over-burdened hard disk I would really like to know what it is supposed to DO so I can determine if it is worth the download. I can’t find any information about what it IS.
