During the few years of DVD-lab development I created many backgrounds and audio background music that simply cannot be all included with the installation because of the size restrictions.
I was thinking to work on them more and release a resource CD or resource site with these files, perhaps create new templates for chapters and film-strip etc…
The question is if it is worth while, if you are interested in such thing, or there is already too much of this stuff elsewhere?
Update Jun 16: I am in the process of creating a subscription site with the ability to download as much as anybody wants. It is still in beta stage, butI believe this may be a better idea than to fiddle with resource CD’s, postages and lost packages.

As you see on the images above, with 2.0 version we can also use a more 3D -like menu backgrounds as there is a new Perspective tool in menu editor which makes easier to fit text and other objects onto perspective plane.

I think a Resource CD would be a great idea. Why not organise a competition for user-submissions and include the winning entries?

Of course the resource CD will be a great idea, with this stuff we can create new menus without start from scratch.
I´m just waiting for the new DVD-lab Pro for buying it.

Here’s another “Yes please” vote for this.
It’s a great idea, and will get bigger as well.
There are so many authors who don’t have either the ability to create great looking graphics (Like myself - I have to get my better half to do them for me) or don’t have the time to get it all just so, and having a wide variety of library content to use would be a definite plus.
Mark’s idea about getting our users to submit material is also a good one. I am always being pleasantly surprised at just how much undiscovered talent there is out there.

The Resource CD is a great idea.
New stuff to play with is always well accepted.
I’m waiting new DVD-lab PRO version too!!!!
Great job.

“Free” Templates/Footages was never a surplus.
But not all of them would be useful. My suggestion is to add a section to the web-site where they could be downloaded selectively.

I totally agree.
More resources for hobbyists to use in the projects is a great idea. You can buy pro stuff, like stock footage and menu background, but the price is generally equally professional. I would definitely like some cheap or even free stuff, perhaps including some user-created content.
However, a valid point is raised: you can have too much of a good thing.
Maybe we should use BitTorrent to distribute it

I would like that very much
it is very time consuming and all efforts are much appreciated
speaking on this line
something like object placement and rotate
I don’t like BT dwnlders, but thats me if thats where you put it then thats where I’ll get it
or I can host on my server I got the bandwidth to spare

Just tell me how it could have happened that I haven’t seen this article earlier? Must have been blind due to coding

How much would the subscriptions be?
Something like this is almost tailor made for me, as I’m crap at graphics & my better half doesn’t always have time do do mine for me.

with reference to http://www.dvdstyle.com and the subscription there should be a yearly fee or a one-off fee, or maybe as part of DvD Lab pro 2.0 optional extra/inclusive fee for access via web

just subscribed,
dvdstyle is a great idea…
fine work…
BUT:
all the stuff there is made for 4:3 tv.
People are changing more and more to 16:9, and shortly 4:3 will vanish.
I do all my DVD in 16:9, even if after i switch to 4:3 video.
anyone with a great idea ?

Cancell last comment,
Did a little more studying and it did work on 16:9,
Will do a little more investigation for the mask,
so far so good,
So many things to learn….
and read………..!!!!!

The templates usually work ok for 16:9 either by stretching, pillarboxing or cropping in.
But it is probably a good idea to think about 16:9 and offer both versions for images that would not look good with the above methods.

Yes Oscar I have done the stretching… it works, look at (2) and I didn’t get highlight, this was done in my first try with the same images as in the guide.
————
Been trying for quite a few hours the BOOBTUBECH.
-the images for 16×9 are noiw available but the mask is not there, tried to built my own w/o success, to long and to confusing to discribe here.
-tried in 4:3 went quite a way looking at the guide.
BUT
1) when you do step 15 and align image it blanks out the bottom as the mask is not a complete image.
2) the neat trick discribed in step 24 and after works ok but nothing is highlighted anymore after rendering thre DVD.
